ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom 1‑Week Review: Is This 7.1 Dolby Atmos Soundbar Worth It?

Image
I’ve been using the ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom 7.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar for a little over a week, and in this post, I want to share my honest experience with it as my main home theater and gaming setup. This is not a paid review, but ULTIMEA did send the unit for free so I could test it and share my thoughts. In this review, I’ll walk through the unboxing, design and build quality, setup, features I like and don’t like, real‑world performance for movies, TV, music, and Nintendo Switch 2 gaming, and finally who I think this soundbar is actually for. If you prefer watching instead of reading, you can check out the full video review here: Unboxing: What’s in the Box? The Poseidon D80 Boom comes in a box that already screams “full home theater kit.” On the outside you see the ULTIMEA branding, an image of the entire system, and highlights like “7.1 Channel,” “Dolby Atmos,” and the SurroundX upmix feature. Inside the box, here’s everything included: - Main soundbar (front left, right, and c...

Initial Impressions of the ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom Soundbar

Image
Introduction: Why Choose the ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom When I set out to find a soundbar to transform my home cinema setup, I knew I needed something that balanced affordability , high efficiency , and good audio quality . After extensive research, the ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom soundbar became the clear choice. This sound system is particularly appealing because it offers a 7.1 Dolby Atmos experience without the premium price tag. In this blog post, I want to share my honest, initial impressions right after unboxing and setting up my new ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom . Unboxing Experience: Compact Design, Big Features The ULTIMEA Poseidon D80 Boom arrived in a striking, compact purple box, which surprised me since most soundbars are long and bulky. The packaging clearly advertised the key features that caught my attention: 7.1 setup , full Dolby Atmos support , 4K HDR Passthrough , the innovative X-upmix technology, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Despite its powerful contents, everyt...

CCA Phoenix IEM - Unboxing & First Impressions

Image
The CCA Phoenix instantly gives off a premium vibe from the moment you open the box. Everything feels well-crafted and thoughtfully presented. Inside, you get: Three pairs of silicone ear tips (S, M, L) A high-quality detachable silver-plated cable A soft leather pouch with a magnetic closure A stylish illustrated Phoenix card The manual Check Price on Shopee Check Price on Lazada Check Price on Aliexpress Build and Design The first thing you’ll notice is the metal housing  - it’s shiny, solid, and surprisingly heavy for its size. It gives a sense of durability and elegance that’s not common in this price range. The overall design feels like something that belongs in a much higher tier. Sound Quality I was pleasantly surprised by how balanced and detailed the CCA Phoenix sounds. The bass is strong and full-bodied , but it doesn’t overpower the mids or highs. Vocals come through clearly, and instruments have nice separation. It’s the kind of tuning that makes you ...

Cup of Joe at Araneta: Great Visuals, Great Crowd — But Where’s the Sound?

Image
The Hype Was Real I was so excited for this.  Cup of Joe’s Stardust concert at the Araneta Coliseum . Their songs have been part of my late-night playlists, and seeing them live felt like a milestone moment for every fan who grew with their music. When we arrived, the energy was electric . The crowd was loud (in the best way), everyone had LED bracelets glowing in sync, and the stage and lighting design were stunning. Everything looked like it was going to be a night to remember. But then… the sound started. And that’s when reality hit. The Audio Problem From the very first few songs, the audio quality was off . The vocals were muffled , and even the instruments didn’t have that punch or clarity you’d expect from a live show. We could barely understand what the band was saying or singing. At first, I thought maybe it was just our section. But I asked a friend who went on Day 1 , and they said the exact same thing. So it wasn’t just us, it was the overall sound setup. ...

How to Improve Headphone Audio Quality Using the LDAC Codec

Image
If you want to get the best sound quality from your Bluetooth headphones , you’ll want to make sure you’re using the LDAC codec . LDAC allows you to stream high-resolution audio wirelessly — giving you clearer, richer, and more detailed sound compared to standard Bluetooth codecs like SBC or AAC . In this guide, I’ll show you how to manually enable the LDAC codec on your headphones and your playback devices (like your smartphone or tablet) so you can enjoy that hi-res audio goodness right away. What Is LDAC and Why It Matters LDAC is a Bluetooth audio codec developed by Sony. Unlike regular Bluetooth, which compresses audio heavily, LDAC can transmit up to 990 kbps — which means less compression and higher sound quality . It’s especially noticeable when listening to lossless audio files or streaming services that support Hi-Res Audio . The difference? Cleaner vocals, more depth in instruments, and better overall clarity. Step 1: Check If Your Devices Support LDAC Before a...

Fly By Midnight Live in Manila 2026 – I Can’t Wait!

Image
Update: 9/26/2025 - Venue & Where to Buy Tickets I still can’t believe it - Fly By Midnight is coming to Manila on January 19, 2026 as part of their “The Fastest Time of Our Lives” Asian + Australian Tour! When I saw the announcement, I literally screamed and jumped out of my seat. It’s been a long time since I felt this kind of excitement for a band, and I just had to share it here. How I Discovered Fly By Midnight I didn’t even know about Fly By Midnight until Apple Music randomly recommended them to me. I was just listening to my usual playlist - artists like Sombr, Luke Hemmings, and Royel Otis when their song “Different Lives” started playing. From the very first listen, I was hooked. Then came “In The Night”, and that sealed the deal for me. It’s rare for me to instantly connect with two songs in a row, but Fly By Midnight had that magic. Fast forward a few months later, and their tracks are now on repeat in my library. In fact, they’ve been my most-played artists for four s...

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Review: The Best and Coolest Controller I’ve Ever Used

Image
I’ve been using the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for a few months now, and I can confidently say this might be the best controller Nintendo has ever made—and easily the coolest. After spending countless hours playing Mario Kart World , Splatoon 3 , and DK Bananza , here’s my honest take on why I think this controller is worth every penny. First Impressions Right out of the box, the Switch 2 Pro Controller makes a strong impression. The black and gray color combination looks premium, while the matte finish feels smooth and satiny to the touch. It’s also lighter than the original Switch Pro Controller —240 grams compared to 252 grams. That small difference makes it surprisingly more comfortable to hold, especially during long gaming sessions. My hands don’t get tired, which is a huge plus for marathon play. Controls & Feedback The analog sticks are easily my favorite feature. They glide smoothly with just the right amount of resistance, and unlike the original Pro Controller,...
